1. How to use wheatgrass for Anal Fissure
Although there can never be a watertight guarantee, our Medical Adviser, Dr. Chris Reynolds has had approximately 85% success rate treating anal fissure with his wheatgrass extract-based formula. Many patients have recovered after years of suffering.
Dr. Chris says:
It is worth remembering that the main aim of using wheatgrass extract, the only bioactive substance in Dr Wheatgrass products, is to relieve you of your symptoms so you can enjoy a better quality of life. Millions of people have fissures, but no symptoms. Fissures are not dangerous, but as you probably know, they can be extremely painful and distressing. It is therefore best to concentrate on pain-relief and make healing of the fissure a secondary goal. lf you continue to use the cream for a month or two after your pain has gone, you may well find the fissure has healed as well.
Symptom relief can sometimes happen very quickly – even within a few days. But more likely it will take two or three weeks or even longer, so it pays to persevere. You should not need to drink large amounts of water, take a high fibre diet or use stool softeners, but by all means take these steps if you find they help ease your symptoms. If you are using glyceryl trinitrate, it may be best to just use the Skin Recovery Cream on its own for a while to see if it works alone. GTN simply increases the blood flow to the area – and frequently causes headaches. Wheatgrass though, appears to actively heal via increasing growth factor activity in the area. Growth factors are responsible for healing and may help by restoring damaged nerve endings that are causing pain.
My suggestions for using Dr Wheatgrass (Skin Recovery Cream, Gel, Spray or Superbalm) are:
1. Apply a small amount to a cotton bud and insert the bud into the anus no deeper than the length of the cotton tip. If this is too painful to begin with, smear a small amount of cream around the anus. Because the bioactives in wheatgrass are absorbed rapidly through the skin and fissures are invariably quite superficial i.e. close to the anal opening, wheatgrass can still ease pain without having direct contact with the fissure.
2. Do this twice a day if possible.3. After about six weeks, you may wish to visit your doctor to see if the fissure has healed or improved. Please note, before using any kind of treatment, it is absolutely essential the cause of symptoms such as rectal pain and/or bleeding has been clearly established by your medical practitioner.

2. The Best Way To Treat Soft Tissue Injuries
How Does Wheatgrass Work?
Wheatgrass is an amazing healing agent, and soft tissue injury is just one of the conditions it works for. The following basic scientific explanation for these phenomena, I believe make sense.
In some way, wheatgrass appears to activate or stimulate production of Growth Factors. These are small molecules that act as cell messengers to stimulate production by DNA of the numerous proteins required for the healing process. The immune system response, wound healing and stopping bleeding and absorption of blood clot are just a few of the functions vital to the maintenance and repair of damaged tissues mediated by Growth Factors.
I have researched the literature extensively since 1995 and made thousands of clinical observations (the head bruise shown above being a classic example) which strongly suggest that wheatgrass contains Growth Factor Activators. What they do is "kick start"and thereby facilitate the natural healing process resulting in faster healing than one normally sees when ice and other methods are used. So when treating sports and other traumatic injuries it is absolutely essential to STOP THE BLEEDING AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE. Wheatgrass can do this much quicker than ice can, and it will absorb the clotted blood which ice can not do.
Some Injuries That Respond Well To Wheatgrass Are:• Pulled muscles (hamstrings, quadriceps, calf, loins, back)
• Groin injuries (osteitis pubis, adductor tendonitis), tennis elbow
• Blisters, abrasions, wounds, bruises, corks - heal in days, not weeks. Safe for open wounds
• Muscle cramps
• Blood rule - stops capillary bleeding in a few minutes
• Shin splints
• Achilles tendinitis
• Runners knee
• Sprained ankle
• Sacro-iliac strain
• Plantar fasciitis
• Fracture pain
• Joint injuries and swelling

3. How To Use Wheatgrass For Molluscum Contagiosum?
Because it is easily applied, dries quickly and is not oily or sticky, and, because it is the most economical product for molluscum, I recommend DR Wheatgrass Skin Recovery Spray.Apply just a little and spread it over the affected area(s) twice daily for the first month, then once daily - and persevere. A rough guide to cure the infection is between 4 and 12 weeks. Often, but not always, new activity such as redness or yellowish of the spots, increase in numbers etc. suggests the virus may be giving up. Also, remember that molluscum is a benign infection, so best leave them alone and let wheatgrass do its job.

4. How To Use Wheatgrass For Topical Steroid WithdrawalHow To Reduce Rebound (Eczema Flares) While Eliminating Topical Steroids Why am I having these bad skin reactions after stopping topical steroids?
If topical steroids have been used on children or adults for any length of time, damage to the skin's steroid-resistance is almost guaranteed. In fact, any remaining or recurring rash is most likely no longer due to eczema, but to the steroids' destructive effects on the skin and the person's immune system being unable to control the reaction.
The rebound of Eczema symptoms (flares) after ceasing topical steroids can be very distressing for the patient and difficult for health professionals and carers to manage. In my experience, wheatgrass can make this so much easier to prevent and control in the majority of patients.
How Can Wheatgrass Help?
Wheatgrass works against the destructive effect of steroids. Whereas steroids suppress the immune response, wheatgrass appears to modulate the skin’s natural immunity in a way that facilitates the skin's ability to heal itself. We see this particularly in wound healing where the recovery of skin wounds can be quite rapid compared with "natural" healing. Also, there is laboratory and clinical evidence that wheatgrass assists the whole body's immune system in the general healing process and as a natural anti-inflammatory.
Essentially, we need to boost whole body immunity and the immune status of the skin itself. This can be achieved by applying wheatgrass extract or wheatgrass juice although because it is a concentrate, the former is more potent. Oral wheatgrass can also assist by modulating and strengthening one's immune system. It is also important to understand there is no magical overnight cure of steroid withdrawal, but wheatgrass can and does in the great majority of the thousands of cases I have treated, reduce the time taken to overcome rebound or the "Red Skin Syndrome". Bear in mind that the process may take some time, and that although most patients do fare well if they are prepared to persevere for 6 to 12 months, occasionally some do not.
What we frequently see after applying wheatgrass to eczema is reduction of redness (inflammation), scaling, cracking, itching and pain. Most importantly, if topical steroids have been used for an extended time, the rebound that frequently occurs on their cessation can be reduced or even eliminated providing they are reduced gradually.
The method is quite simple, but you need to be patient and persevere. Also, clinical experience in helping thousands of eczema patients dispense with steroids, leaves me with no doubt that daily ingestion of wheatgrass can hasten the healing process.
First, aim to reduce topical steroids gradually over a period of time - say two to three weeks or, if they have been used regularly for a long period, a month or two.
For the first week, start to boost the skin's immunity by applying wheatgrass two to three times daily, but in combination with the topical steroid. Wheatgrass first, steroid on top. Use either the wheatgrass extract in a cream base or as a lotion. Because the Dr Wheatgrass Skin Recovery Spray contains fewer ingredients than the other topicals, it is my preferred treatment for eczema in infants and children.
In the second week, try to reduce the steroid by 50 percent either on a daily basis, or every second day.
By week 3 it may be safe to reduce the steroid to twice weekly, then once weekly, then cease. In this way, you will build up the skin's immunity quite significantly so that the steroid may no longer be required provided wheatgrass continues to be applied once or twice daily.
In the event of flares, which often happen in the first few months but are usually milder than before, repeat the steroid/wheatgrass cycle. Often this period will be significantly shorter than the first 'cycle'.
I have helped numerous patients, adults and children, towards far better quality skin this way, most of whom have eventually been able to dispense with their steroids. Others only need to use the steroids to help them over a flare from time to time, but only for days rather than weeks or months.
In more severe cases, I use daily wheatgrass application in combination with oral steroids i.e. prednisolone, usually 20mg. daily to begin with, to get control over the eczema by reducing inflammation and itch. I then reduce the prednisolone by small increments of 2.5mg every three or four days as this helps significantly in reducing rebound. The aim is to cease oral steroids as soon as possible, but continue applying wheatgrass. If rebound occurs, I repeat the steroid cycle starting at 15mg. and repeat the gradual dosage reduction. This process may take three to six months, but the outcome is often successful. Some patients may need to continue using wheatgrass indefinitely.

5. How To Take Wheatgrass For Best Results?
There is no doubt that wheatgrass contains numerous important health-giving bioactives. Clinical observation shows how rapidly many of them are absorbed through the skin and the mucous membrane covering the oral cavity.
One example of the latter is the "rush" many experience only a few seconds after swallowing fresh wheatgrass juice or Dr Wheatgrass Supershots. This suggests instantaneous absorption directly from the mouth to the brain via the blood circulation i.e. the sublingual route.
Herein lies the secret of taking wheatgrass in any form - tablets or powder mixed with water, fresh juice or Supershots. That is, hold the liquid in your mouth for two or three minutes if possible before swallowing. This will enable much greater absorption of the bioactives compared with simply tossing it down your throat. If you do that, much of the goodness will be destroyed by stomach acid.
For many, including myself, the taste and smell of fresh wheatgrass juice is sufficient a deterrent to continue taking it. Also, the antioxidant concentration in fresh juice is about 25% lower than in the extract we use to make our Supershots, which are also very easy on the palate. Wheatgrass powder and tablets contain even lower amounts.Whatever form of wheatgrass you take, it will almost certainly help your general health and wellbeing in time.

6. Stress (Aphthous) UlcersAphthous Ulcers (Canker Sores) Are Commonly Related To Stress.
Stress can suppress the body's immunity by raising levels of naturally produced steroids in the blood. This can result in a number of disorders including mouth or aphthous ulcers. These ulcers are usually quite painful, often multiple and do not respond to orthodox medical treatment. They are not due to infection.Although they usually disappear spontaneously in about 10 days without treatment, they can persist or frequently recur in a percentage of patients. Because wheatgrass is a potent immune stimulant, it can be quite effective first in relieving pain and secondly in reducing the duration and frequency of occurrence of aphthous ulcers. Hold some Wheatgrass juice or Dr Wheatgrass Supershots, in your mouth for two or three minutes three times a day if possible. It often works when nothing else does.
